For many investors, sustainability remains a source of uncertainty. Climate risks are still perceived by some as distant or unquantifiable, the profitability of ESG investments is being questioned, and ESG-related regulations are facing mounting pushback.

However, waiting for policy certainty on sustainability is not an option. Environmental risks, including climate risks, are rising faster than businesses realise and are already reshaping real estate valuations, financial markets, and investor expectations.

Sustainability for Sceptics is a workshop for forward-thinking investors and cutting-edge researchers. The event explores how climate and sustainability-related risks are reshaping investment strategies—legally, through evolving fiduciary duties and regulatory frameworks, and financially, through shifting risk-return calculations.

Rather than assuming consensus, the workshop fosters open debate across a range of perspectives.

Investors get fresh ideas to protect long-term value from climate risks while addressing short-term financial pressures. Academics and researchers gain unique insight into the challenges and opportunities of sustainability in action.

Work with supporters and sceptics. Engage directly with world-renowned experts and fellow investors. Take part in interactive workshops examining investor risks and opportunities. Receive the outputs of all workgroups in follow-on materials. Help each other understand what works now, what doesn’t and why.

About the speaker

Dr Marc Lepere

Marc Lepere leads Executive Education on ESG & Sustainability at King’s Business School, King's College London. He holds a PhD and a MSc from King’s College London, and is an Economics graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Marc has published in leading journals including Stanford Social Innovation Review, the Financial Times and Discovering Truth (series 1) which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Professionally, Marc has served as Chief Marketing Officer for Havas Worldwide; Executive Vice President for McCann Erickson WorldGroup and Deputy Chairman of Dentsu in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

In 2021, Marc’s academic research and experience as an entrepreneur and senior board member inspired him to found Omnevue. Omnevue is a new online platform that makes it easy and affordable for SMEs to get ESG data and reports assured by certified public accountants, just like financials.
