Bio

Dr. Taylor Carman is Professor of Philosophy at Barnard College, Columbia University, in New York City. He earned his PhD at Stanford University and has also taught at the University of California in San Diego, New York University, and the Sorbonne in Paris. He is the author of Heidegger’s Analytic (Cambridge University Press, 2002), Merleau-Ponty (Routledge, 2nd ed., 2019), and Heidegger and the History of Being (Cambridge University Press, forthcoming). He is the coeditor of The Cambridge Companion to Merleau-Ponty (Cambridge University Press, 2005) and his published papers on a variety of topics in phenomenology, existentialism, and hermeneutics.
