Bio

Ibrahim Akel is Associate Professor at Sorbonne Nouvelle University. He graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Literature from the University of Damascus and later obtained several postgraduate diplomas in diverse fields, including Literary Studies, Theatre Studies, and Educational Planning. He subsequently moved to Paris to pursue advanced academic studies, earning both his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in 2016. He has published extensively on Arabic manuscripts, One Thousand and One Nights, and popular Arabic literature. In 2021, he co-edited a collective volume with William Granara, Director of the Arabic Language Program at Harv
