Scholarships and Preferential Rates

Scholarships & Preferential Rates

Scholarships based on academic excellence or individual circumstances are granted by Sorbonne Abu Dhabi to enrolled undergraduate and postgraduate students. Preferential rates are available for all programmes.

The deadline for submitting an application for continuing students is communicated by University email each semester to all enrolled students. Applications are submitted via the online application form. Incomplete and late applications will not be assessed.

Undergraduate scholarships are not combinable with undergraduate preferential rates; however, they may be combined with the early bird discount and Student ambassador discount. In such cases, both the scholarship and the early bird discount or student ambassador will be calculated based on the full tuition fees.

Postgraduate scholarships may be combined with both preferential tuition rates and additional discounts.

The calculation is as follows:

• Scholarships and additional discounts are applied to the full tuition fees.

• Preferential rates are then calculated on the remaining amount after the scholarships and additional discounts have been deducted

Undergraduate Scholarships

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Scholarship for Emirati students

Admitted Emirati nationals and children of Emirati mothers’ are awarded a full scholarship covering tuition and study related fees for their Bachelor Programmes (and Foundation year, if any)

Current high school students may apply through NAPO, whereas the graduates of previous years can apply on the Apply Now page.

Academic Excellence Scholarship (starting from the 2nd semester of enrolment)

• 25%-75% Academic Excellence Scholarship

Based on the academic results obtained during the previous semester at SUAD, students are eligible to the academic excellence scholarship granted semester by semester. The scholarship scheme is progressive (25% to 75% and the minimum average grade to be eligible is 12/20. A specific scholarship is available for the 2nd semester of the Foundation Year. Academic Excellence Scholarships (for the 1st semester of enrolment)

• 15% scholarship on tuition for the 1st semester of joining

New joiners with excellent academic results in high school are eligible following the below criteria. Starting from the second semester, they can apply for the 25%-75% academic excellence scholarship scheme.

- Government schools: 90% in the advanced stream, or 95% in the general stream.

- American system: CGPA of 3.6 out of 4.0 or minimum average of 90%.

- British system: “A” grade or higher in three “AS-Level” subjects or “A” in the equivalent “A-Level” Subjects, plus “B” grade or higher in six O level subjects.

- SABIS: minimum average of 85%.

- International Baccalaureate: IB diploma with minimum score of 5 out of 7 in all courses – three of those subjects must be higher-level courses.

- French Baccalaureate: minimum average of 14 out of 20.


Undergraduate Preferential Rates

10% Family discount

Students who have a first-degree relative currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a postgraduate programme are eligible for a 10% discount.

10% French Curriculum Schools Discount for the 1st semester of enrolment

Students holding a French baccalaureate are eligible for a 10% discount for their first semester. Starting from the second semester, they can apply for the 25%-75% academic excellence scholarship scheme.

Sponsored Discounts

Total, Chalhoub and Ardian Foundation, offer specific sponsorships based on academic excellence and/or financial circumstances to selected students.

Postgraduate Scholarships

40% academic excellence scholarship

New joiners are eligible for a 40% scholarship on tuition starting from the first semester, which will remain valid for the entire academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

- A Bachelor’s CGPA between 3.6 and 3.79

 - A Bachelor in French system with a score between 14/20 and 15.99/20

- For other systems: Graduation within the top 30% of the class

For programmes taught in English, applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency, with a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 or TOEFL iBT score of 94.

50% academic excellence scholarship

New joiners are eligible for a 50% scholarship on tuition starting from the first semester, which will remain valid for the entire academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

- A Bachelor’s CGPA between 3.8 and 3.99

- A Bachelor in French system with a score between 16/20 and 17.99/20

- For other systems: Graduation within the top 20% of the class

For programmes taught in English, applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency, with a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 or TOEFL iBT score of 94.

75% academic excellence scholarship

New joiners are eligible for a 75% scholarship on tuition starting from the first semester, which will remain valid for the entire academic year.

To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

- A Bachelor’s CGPA of 4

- A Bachelor in French system with a score between 18/20 and 20/20

- For other systems: Graduation within the top 10% of the class

For programmes taught in English, applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency, with a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 or TOEFL iBT score of 94.


Postgraduate Preferential Rates

20% Alumni preferential rate

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi alumni are eligible to a 20% waiver on tuition fee. The waiver is valid for the 2 years of master.

30% Fresh graduate preferential rate

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi current L3 students are eligible to a 30% waiver on tuition fee when they apply for a M1. The waiver is valid for the 2 years of master.

Guidelines

For students enrolled before September 2025, the previous scholarship scheme apply. In this scheme, postgraduate scholarships are not compatible with postgraduate preferential rates; however, they may be combined with the early bird discount or student ambassador.

In such cases, both the scholarship and the early bird discount or student ambassador discount will be calculated based on the full tuition fees.

Postgraduate Scholarships

25% academic excellence scholarship

New joiners are eligible to 25% scholarship on tuition starting from the 1st semester. To be eligible, applicants are required to meet one of the below criteria:

- Bachelor CGPA average of 3.6/4.0 and above, or equivalent.

- Bachelor with Final Average of 15/20 above.

- Bachelor with first class honors.

- Candidates graduating as the top of class, despite the average.

A minimum average of 14/20 is required to maintain the scholarship for the following semesters.

For programmes taught in English: an English Proficiency level with a minimum of 7.0 for IELTS or 94 for TOELF IB.


Postgraduate preferential rates

20% Alumni preferential rate

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi alumni are eligible to a 20% waiver on tuition fee.

25% preferential rate upon enrolment on a second master’s degree

Applicants holding a master degree from SUAD and enrolling for a second master degree at SUAD are entitled to a 25% waiver on tuition.

5%-15% corporate rate

Companies and organizations benefit from a special discount, based on the number of employees enrolling in programmes. For more details, please contact +971(0) 2-6569311

10% Family discount

Students who have a first-degree relative currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a postgraduate programmes are eligible for a 10% discount.

These additional discounts may be combined with any scholarship. The calculation will be based on the full tuition fees.


Early birds

A 10% discount applies to students who register and pay the first installment of tuition fees before April 30. First semester fees must be fully paid by May 10


Student Ambassador

A Student Ambassador is a current student who successfully refers a new student to enroll at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.

- The referring student (Student Ambassador) receives a 5% discount on their full year’s tuition fees for each new student referred.

- The referred student also receives a 5% discount on their full year’s tuition fees.

The Housing Assistance is a discount on SUAD accommodation fees (subject to funds availability). It is granted to continuing students enrolled in Undergraduate Degree Programs (including Foundation if any) and starting from the 2nd semester at SUAD. This financial aid is based strictly on financial hardship. 


Eligibility Criteria 

Students can apply if they meet the following criteria:

- Full-time students enrolled in SUAD bachelor programs that includes foundation year

- MBZ Scholarship for UAE national Students

- Exchange student who completed at least one semester at SUAD and is transferring as a regular student


Please note that the following exceptions apply:

- Exchange students are not eligible to apply unless they decide to transfer to SUAD after having spent at least one semester at SUAD

- The students already covered under a sponsorship are not eligible to apply 


Financial Documents Required for Housing Assistance 

Students must apply for housing assistance by providing the required financial documents that justify their need for financial support, as follows:

- Salary Certificate

- Employment letter

- The last 3 months of parents or legal guardian current Bank Statement  

- Any additional proof of financial Hardship  


Awarding 

The Scholarship Committee grants housing assistance based on eligibility and selection criteria. Discounts start at 20% and can increase up to 80%, depending on the financial situation and available budget.


Exchange students transferred as regular students after completing at least one semester at SUAD may receive 40% discount or more, based on demonstrated financial hardship.


To be considered, students must submit an updated set of required documents with each housing assistance application.


Selection Criteria 

Submitted documents will be reviewed, and decisions will be made according to the total monthly income, including salary, housing allowance, and any other income reflected in the bank statements. Additional factors such as loans, retired or single parents, termination letters of parents are also considered (this list is non-exhaustive).


Please note that international documents provided, including salary certificates and bank statement in foreign currency, will be converted to UAE Dirhams. 


Review

Housing eligibility and percentage are reviewed at the end of each semester, following the submission of the required documents. Students may apply to increase their housing discount based on evidence of financial hardship.


Duration

Housing Assistance is awarded for one semester, and the percentage is reviewed at the end of each semester.
