Date: 12 February - 2 March 2025 Conference: 12 February 2025 at 5:30pm Opening Ceremony: 12 February 2025 at 7:00pm Venue: The Atrium, SUAD Campus Free entry This event will be delivered in English. Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Christian Sardet together with Noé Sardet & Les Macronautes, present “An Ocean of Plankton”, the first exhibition of the Year of Ocean. Join us on the 12th February at 5.30pm for an exceptional conference that will trigger your curiosity for the fascinating world of plankton! Embark on this incredible journey with our guest speakers Christian Sardet, biologist and explorer, Elise Marquis, Director of YasSeaWorld Research & Rescue Center, and Noé Sardet, filmmaker. The photo exhibition will be revealed at 7.00pm in the Atrium, blending harmoniously art and science. Large photographic prints will show the spectacular beauty and diversity of marine plankton and seascapes. Christian and Noé will guide you through science, art, and their expeditions, delivering a strong environmental message about protecting the Ocean. Know more about the speaker
Christian Sardet
Christian Sardet
A biologist, passionate about imaging cells and organisms. Emeritus research director (CNRS) at the Institut de la Mer in Villefranche-sur-Mer (IMEV) he is a co-founder of the Tara Oceans Expedition. His research concerned fertilization, the development of embryos and plankton. He is the author of several award-winning books and films.

Elise Marquis Elise
Elise Marquis
A marine ecologist with a deep passion for studying coastal and pelagic ecosystems, as well as the dynamics of marine food web, with a particular focus on planktonic communities. For more than 17 years, Elise has been studying the ecosystems of the Arabian Gulf, and since June 2021, she has been leading the Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. In this role, she oversees the center's missions and operations, which include scientific research, marine wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, and educational initiatives.
Noé Sardet
Noé Sardet
A filmmaker and multimedia designer. He holds a Master’s in art Direction and Multimedia Engineering from University of Nice (France). He works as director and creative producer of scientific and environmental film projects. He has participated in oceanographic expeditions in the Mediterranean Sea, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Arctic and Antarctica, filming the wonders of nature and tales of human exploration.
Les Macronautes
An artist collective made up of photographers, designers, filmmakers and visual artists. Inspired by infinite spaces like the cosmos and the ocean. Les Macronautes create visual and immersive experiences from media gathered during sailing expeditions. The artists featured in this exhibition are: Noé Sardet, Sharif Mirshak, François Guinaudeau, Richard Mardens and Valentin Proult.
