Bio
Ahmed Slimani is an Associate Professor of Physics. He completed his doctorate in 2012 and obtained his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) in 2021, both from the University of Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines, France. In 2013, he joined Tokyo University in Japan as a postdoctoral researcher, a position he held until 2014. He then became a permanent Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax in Tunisia. Ahmed Slimani joined Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi in 2018, where he continues to contribute to teaching and research.
His research focuses on the physics of condensed matter and materials, with a particular emphasis on phase transitions and bistability using numerical simulations. He has been invited as a researcher on multiple occasions in France. Ahmed Slimani has authored 34 publications in indexed, peer-reviewed journals and has an h-index of 18 on Scopus. He has co-supervised two Ph.D. students, supervised four Master's students, and mentored more than 20 bachelor's students. He has also served on several Ph.D. defense panels. Additionally, he acts as a referee for several Q1 and Q2 physics journals.
He has secured multiple internal and external grants and is currently the coordinator of an external research grant funded by the AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) under the “Support for French-speaking Scientific Research in the Middle East” program. This project is being developed in collaboration with Chemnitz University in Germany and the Faculty of Sciences of Sfax in Tunisia. Ahmed Slimani is also a co-coordinator of another external research grant funded by the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) under the “International Emerging Actions” program, a collaboration between SUAD and CNRS/University of Versailles Saint Quentin en Yvelines, France
