Her research focuses on the United Arab Emirates, where she has lived since 2011.
Christine’s master’s thesis, earned in 2024 at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, titled ‘It’s probably safe’: Cultural insights and practical knowledge to shift Abu Dhabi towards tap water examined how the city’s residents came to eschew tap water in favor of bottled water and explored factors that could influence them to change back. The quantitative analysis included nearly 600 questionnaire responses, revealing insights into perceptions, past and current practices as well as social and institutional influences around drinking water, determining that past socialization as a powerful factor.
Prior to becoming a full-time student, Christine spent 20 years in the sports industry. Her early career includes a Master of Sport Administration earned at Florida State University and roles at State Farm Stadium and Santa Ana Star Casino in the USA, and at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This extensive experience in both mass participation and the Abu Dhabi community is an asset to the topics she is currently working on.
Christine’s style combines curiosity with methodology, placing a high value on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and discovery. She is a creative thinker, community engager, and a storyteller who loves to explore the hidden facets of everyday life.
