Bio

Dr. Claude Vishnu Spaak (BA: Mcgill; MA: Katholieke Universiteit Leuven; MA: Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) is the head of the philosophy and sociology department at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. He holds a PhD in philosophy from Sorbonne University in Paris, which he obtained in 2014. He is the holder of the agrégation de philosophie. Claude Vishnu Spaak is a specialist of Western Contemporary Philosophy, with an area of competence in phenomenology, concentrating on the works of such key authors as Husserl, Heidegger, Patočka, Fink, Sartre and Levinas. He has published 2 books (Interprétations phénoménologiques de la Physique d'Aristote chez Heidegger et Patocka, Springer, 2017, 360 pages ; Matière et mouvement. Essai de cosmologie phénoménologique, Paris, Hermann, 2017, 152 pages). He has also directed collective works (both in published books and philosophical journals) and published around 30 articles. Claude Vishnu Spaak is an associate member of the “Centro de Filosofia da Universidade de Lisboa” (CFUL), University of Lisbon, Portugal; Associate Member of the Husserl Archives of Paris (CNRS, UMR 8547); Member of the scientific committee of phaenomenologica (Research Phenomenology Center of the University of Bologna)
