A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art, and later of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, Nicolas Vial’s talent and passion earned him a place at Le Monde as a press cartoonist at the age of just 25. This collaboration would last over 30 years, running alongside his career as a painter, marked by numerous exhibitions around the world. Since the late 2000s, he has held the title of Official Painter of the French Navy, whose expeditions serve as a rich source of inspiration for him. Born from this extensive experience, the exhibition Vagabondages – The Dream Maps, presented at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, explores the subtle and poetic interplay between imagination and reality.
