Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy

Commitment to Integrity

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) is committed to conducting all its activities with honesty, transparency, and the highest ethical standards.

SUAD maintains a zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption and is dedicated to acting professionally, fairly, and with integrity in all its relationships and business dealings.

The University seeks to avoid any actions that could compromise its reputation or integrity.

Legal and Ethical Responsibilities

Bribery and corruption are criminal offences that can result in severe penalties, including fines and imprisonment.

If SUAD, or any of its employees, representatives, or affiliates (including contractors, agents, or subsidiaries), is found to have engaged in corrupt practices, the University could face significant legal and reputational consequences.

SUAD therefore takes its legal obligations extremely seriously.

Scope and Applicability

This Policy applies to all:

  • Members of the Board of Trustees
  • Directors and officers
  • Employees and family members
  • Consultants, contractors, and service providers
  • Students of SUAD

Compliance with this Policy is a condition of employment, engagement, or enrollment.

All individuals covered by this Policy are deemed to have agreed to its terms upon notification or publication of the most recent version on the SUAD website.

Global Compliance

This Policy applies to all SUAD operations, whether in the UAE or abroad. Everyone acting on behalf of SUAD must comply with all applicable anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws in the countries where SUAD conducts business.

If any uncertainty arises, individuals should seek guidance from the Head of the Legal Office before taking action.

Prohibited Conduct

It is strictly prohibited for SUAD, or any of its representatives, to:

  • Offer, give, or promise any payment, gift, or hospitality to gain or reward an improper business advantage.
  • Offer or provide any payment, gift, or hospitality intended to “facilitate” or expedite routine governmental or administrative actions.
  • Accept any payment, gift, or hospitality knowing or suspecting that it is offered in exchange for an improper business advantage.
  • Threaten, retaliate against, or penalize anyone who refuses to engage in bribery or who reports concerns in good faith under this Policy or SUAD’s Whistleblowing Policy.
  • Engage in any other conduct that could lead to a breach of this Policy or relevant anti-corruption laws.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with this Policy may result in criminal or civil penalties, depending on the nature of the violation.

SUAD employees found to be in breach of this Policy may also face disciplinary action, up to and including summary dismissal.
