Description

La Nuit du Droit is a French event that celebrates law in all its forms and seeks to make it accessible to everyone. Held each year at the beginning of October, the evening features public lectures, debates, interactive workshops, mock trials, and opportunities to meet legal professionals, including judges, lawyers, and academic experts.


Its purpose is to present the importance of law in a dynamic and engaging way, to raise awareness of its role in society, and to demonstrate how it shapes daily life while safeguarding individual freedoms. The event offers a unique opportunity to bring citizens closer to the legal world in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

 

PROGRAMME

Thursday 2 Oct

4pm to 8pm: Pre-selection of participants and brief about the contest of the Pleading contest

 

Friday 3 Oct

10am to 12pm: Conference with the French judge "Juge, mille métiers en un."

2pm to 6pm: Coaching of participants

 

Monday 6 Oct

1pm to 4pm: Pleading contest

4 pm: coffee: buffet break

7pm to 9pm: Movie screening in Zayed Theater, "La French", 2014


ELOQUENCE CONTEST

The Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi Eloquence Contest is a prestigious event that celebrates the art of public speaking and persuasive communication. Open to all students of the university, it provides a unique platform to develop confidence, articulate ideas with clarity, and captivate an audience. Through prepared or improvised speeches, participants are invited to showcase their creativity, critical thinking, and rhetorical skills. This contest reflects Sorbonne’s commitment to academic and cultural excellence while fostering self-confidence, intellectual exchange, and the power of words in an inspiring and supportive environment.

MOVIE SCREENING


The Connection (La French) is a 2014 historical crime action thriller film directed by Cédric Jimenez. The movie is inspired by the events of the French Connection in the 1970s, starring superstars Jean Dujardin and Gilles Lellouche.

In this captivating movie, crusading judge Pierre Michel, in 1970s Marseille, France, tries to take on a heroin empire run by Gaetan "Tany" Zampa, a drug gang ringleader whose tentacles reach into every aspect of society. 

The movie will be in French only.
