With a printed collection of over 110,000 books, 730,000 electronic books, 58,000 electronic journals, and subscriptions to over 45 online databases, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is home to the biggest Francophone library in the Gulf Region.

Continuing Education Centre

The Continuing Education Centre (CEC) provides niche, high quality and lifelong learning programmes to empower working professionals and advance their professional goals and career prospects. All the events are open to the community, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status, or gender as indicated in the Continuing Education Centre policy.

Art & Luxury: A new continuing education program was launched focusing on Luxury Branding in the UAE and Gulf countries. In conjunction with this inauguration, the Department of Art History and Archaeology and the Continuing Education Center were delighted to host Vadim Grigoryan, a distinguished creative director and brand strategist.


The event promoted lifelong learning by offering specialized education, integrating art and culture into business practices, emphasizing the value of academic programs, and providing access to expert insights for professionals seeking to enhance their skills and advance their careers.


Collaborating with ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority)

Providing Lifelong Learning Opportunities to Employees


Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi provides its employees with continuous lifelong learning experiences through trainings and programmes. In collaboration with ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority) a tailor-made programme of 3 levels designed by Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and Sorbonne Centre for Artificial Intelligence aimed at enhancing employees’ skills and expanding their impact by teaching them Machine Learning and Data Science skills and tools related to finance. 


Accompanying ADIA in Their High-School Students’ Selection Process for Sponsorship Opportunities


Sorbonne Abu Dhabi was chosen as a partner of choice by ADIA to develop exams in Mathematic for high-school students applying to ADIA’s sponsorship programme, to ensure only the best students are retained.


In parallel, the University opened the ADIA summer school “Guided Tour of AI” to train high-school students sponsored by ADIA. These selected students had the chance to become university students for 10 days, receiving high-level knowledge throughout their classes, tutorials, activities, and taking advantage of the housing facilities, and sports building.


New IELTS Partnership with British Council UAE

The British Council's partnership with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD), announcing SUAD's Continuing Education Center as an official IELTS test venue, directly supports Quality Education by expanding access to globally recognized English language proficiency testing, a crucial tool for educational and professional advancement. This collaboration enhances opportunities for individuals in the UAE to pursue higher education and career goals, aligning with the SDG's aim to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, through readily available and convenient testing facilities and preparation resources.

Seminar: LLIA (Lettres, Langues, Intelligence artificielle) - Teaching FLE with AI workshops

The seminar directly addresses the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the teaching of French as a foreign language (FLE). It promoted quality education by fostering innovation in teaching, providing professional development for educators, ensuring access to quality education resources, and promoting lifelong learning and knowledge sharing.


Event: Francophonie Dictation - "Dictée de la Francophonie"

In its 7th edition, The "Dictée de la Francophonie" event promoted access to quality linguistic education and fostering lifelong learning. By celebrating the French language and its diverse cultures, the event encouraged linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding. The inclusive nature of the competition, open to various age groups and French as a Foreign Language (FLE) students, ensures equitable access to educational opportunities. Moreover, the event's emphasis on spelling and language mastery contributes to the development of essential literacy skills, a fundamental aspect of quality education.

Event: Le Grand Oral de la Sorbonne



Le Grand oral de la Sorbonne is an annual educational event organised by students from the University's FLE department, with the aim of improving their language and communication skills by inviting prominent French speakers to speak to them and asking them specific questions designed to help the public discover inspiring careers and enriching experiences, as well as hearing their opinions on a variety of current and international issues.

This annual event fosters quality education by enhancing language and communication skills, providing access to diverse knowledge and perspectives, promoting experiential learning, and inspiring lifelong learning.

Event: Sixteenth Archival Education Research Institute 2024 (AERI)

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and the UAE's National Library and Archives hosted the 2024 Archival Education and Research Institute (AERI). This event aimed to improve archival studies by bringing together researchers, educators, and professionals. It focused on supporting doctoral students and academic staff with thesis writing, grant proposals, and career development, as well as advancing archival studies curricula and promoting research through workshops and presentations.

Conference : Digital Archiving Conference in the Arab World

In partnership with CEDEJ (centre d’études et de documentation économiques juridiques et sociales), the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the UAE National Archives, the 2nd Digital Archiving Conference took place in the University of Sorbonne Abu Dhabi . The conference aims to showcase the richness of Arab content and the significance of digital archiving. While bringing together scholars and practitioners for discussions about archiving challenges in the Arab world.

The Green Dictation

The event which was part of the university’s Go Green Initiative 2023, hosted over 140 French-speaking participants of different age groups. The topic of the dictation covered climate change and sustainability challenges which aimed to raise awareness about global environmental issues. 
This event is part of a series of dictations held annually under different themes.
