We are proud to be working with GRIPIC (the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Information and Communication Processes), our research arm at CELSA, the Sorbonne University Graduate School of Communication and Journalism. We benefit from the immense knowledge, experience, and support of the GRIPIC team, including Dr. Karine Berthelot-Guiet, Dr. Sophie Corbillé and Dr. Hécate Vergopoulos, to name but a few. These esteemed colleagues have been actively involved with the MCM-SUAD program since its inception, bringing invaluable insights and mentorship.

Our Interdisciplinary and International Approach

GRIPIC unites both academics and professionals, contributing significantly to the scientific life of CELSA. Since its establishment in 1975, CELSA has been among the pioneering research units offering doctoral programmes in Communication Sciences. Today, it remains a leading centre for training and research in communication, journalism and media, with around one hundred doctoral theses successfully defended.

Research at GRIPIC is supported by a vibrant network of national and international collaborations worldwide, enabling scholars to actively engage in interdisciplinary research across diverse fields including semiotics, anthropology, organisational sciences, and political science.

With an interdisciplinary approach, GRIPIC brings together academics and professionals from varied backgrounds, applying a wide range of methods grounded in semiotic analysis and actor-network theory. This broad perspective allows the group to explore social phenomena through their circulation, historical development, and material mediations, addressing their technical, cultural, and political dimensions. The complexity of communication processes necessitates such a comprehensive approach to understand our evolving cultural landscape.

GRIPIC’s research covers both theoretical and applied questions, conducted through individual and collective projects, collaborative research contracts, and partnerships with public and private institutions. Central to its methodology is a reflexive analysis that continuously interrogates the research process itself while contributing to the broader epistemology of Information and Communication Sciences and its interdisciplinary intersections.
