Health and Wellness

Student Success & Wellbeing

Recognising the critical link between wellbeing and academic achievement, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi has established the Student Success and Wellbeing Section within the Student Affairs Department. This section is dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment that empowers students to achieve both their academic and personal goals.

Key Objectives:

  • Cultivate a campus culture that values diversity, respect, and inclusivity
  • Provide tailored support to help students navigate emotional, social, academic, and behavioural challenges throughout their SUAD journey

The section plays a vital role in ensuring that all students, including those with special needs, are equipped with the tools and support necessary for success.

Services Included

Psychological and psychiatric evaluations

  • Support interventions and behavioural therapy delivered by professional counsellors
  • Comprehensive accommodations such as counselling, peer tutoring, mentoring, and exam support (e.g., alternative assessments, extra time, separate classrooms, and accessible facilities)

These services are designed to ensure all students can fully participate in both academic and extracurricular life, regardless of individual circumstances.

Counselling Services

In addition to medical assistance, the Counselling Office offers confidential consultations tailored to address non-academic challenges including stress, sleep issues, eating disorders, anxiety, and adjustment difficulties. Provided by qualified professionals, these services support students in managing the demands of university life and developing effective coping strategies.

Empowering People Through Growth and Support

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi is equally committed to the professional development and wellbeing of its academic and administrative staff. A broad spectrum of growth opportunities is available, including:

  • Specialised training and upskilling

  • Support for higher education and research participation
  • Internal mobility and structured performance reviews

Employee wellbeing is a key pillar of the institution’s human resources strategy, with initiatives focused on mental health, work-life balance, and cultivating a strong sense of community. Through these efforts, SUAD fosters a workplace where staff feel empowered, engaged, and equipped to drive excellence.

Staff Team Building Day

Demonstrating its commitment to staff wellbeing, SUAD organises annual retreats and team-building events. Led by the Human Resources Department, these gatherings allow employees to step away from routine, strengthen interpersonal connections, and reflect on shared goals, ultimately boosting morale and workplace cohesion.

Health Insurance for Staff

SUAD provides comprehensive health insurance to all staff members, which includes coverage for mental health and psychiatric care. This ensures that employees have access to the necessary resources to maintain their overall wellbeing and thrive professionally.
